1. STUST participates in the National Library’s trial run of “Write Aid Similarity Scanner (hereinafter referred to as WASS)”. Graduate students taking the Degree Exam this semester are required to join this trial run, from 1 December 2024 to 28 February 2025.

2. Graduate students, after passing the Degree Exam, should check their theses/dissertations with WASS and obtain comparison reports. Advisors can refer to the comparison reports to revise and finalize the theses/dissertations.

3. Similarity Scanner(WASS) FIRST, Thesis Submission LATER. Your thesis/dissertation should be checked by WASS and reviewed and approved by your advisor before you submit it to STUST Electronic Theses & Dissertations System.

4. Graduate students are required to check their finalized theses/dissertations with both Turnitin and WASS, and upload the WASS comparison report and Turnitin similarity report to the FlipClass.

●Notes for Uploading the Files
1) Limited comparison attempts: 5 (after 3 attempts, you’ll have to wait 24 hours to re-submit the file). Please use the attempts carefully. (This is the policy of the National Library)

2) The file uploaded should include the cover, abstract, table of contents, body of the paper, and references. Incomplete manuscripts or inconsistency between the titles listed in the table of contents and those in the body of the paper may lead to the failure of the comparison.

3) The purpose of the comparison is for students to self-check their theses/dissertations. In order NOT to violate academic ethics and affect the university's research culture, students should not use improper means to technically circumvent the thesis comparison.

4)WASS is limited to the use of Graduate School students who take the degree exam (oral defense) this semester. Please do not submit manuscripts of other people. The National Library will suspend violators’ accounts.

5)If you have any questions using WASS, please contact Ms. Liu at STUST Library. (Tel: 06-2533131 Ext. 2501; Email: paris@stust.edu.tw)

6)If you have any questions uploading the reports to FlipClass, please contact Bonnie at the Registry Division of the Office of Academic Affairs. (Tel: 06-2533131 Ext. 2101-2104; Email: dept_register@stust.edu.tw)
