Taiwan has recently entered its peak enterovirus season. The following prevention and precautions are provided for your reference. If you have young children at home, please pay attention to the following. If any suspected symptoms appear, seek medical attention as soon as possible to reduce the risk of developing severe enterovirus illness.

(I) Beware of severe enterovirus warning signs! If your child exhibits signs of severe illness such as drowsiness, altered mental status, lethargy, myoclonic jerks, weakness in the limbs, rapid breathing, persistent vomiting, or rapid heartbeat, please take them to the hospital immediately! Enterovirus can cause serious complications, so please be vigilant. Five designated enterovirus hospitals in Tainan City are: National Cheng Kung University Hospital, Yongkang Chi Mei Hospital, Kuo General Hospital, Tainan Sin-Lau Hospital, and Madou Sin-Lau Hospital. Prevention is better than cure. Wash your hands frequently and avoid contact with sick children to protect your children's health! (See Attachment 1 for relevant health education cards)

(II) Wash your hands correctly and frequently to protect yourself and others! Enteroviruses, influenza, and other viruses are transmitted through the hands. Correct handwashing is the most effective way to prevent infection! Please remember the 5 steps to handwashing: Scrub your hands with soap for at least 20 seconds to leave no place for bacteria and viruses to hide! Protect your health and that of your family by starting with handwashing! (See Appendix 2 for related health education infographics.)
