1. The prize was jointly launched in 2019 by Chile, the APEC host economy that year, and the Merck Group. It aims to encourage APEC economies to develop gender-disaggregated data and to recognize innovative research that highlights the important link between women’s health and economic participation, while encouraging policymakers and entrepreneurs to implement measures that empower women in the workforce.
2. Research topics must address at least one of the five focus areas of the Healthy Women, Healthy Economies initiative: workplace health and safety, health awareness and access, work–life balance, sexual and reproductive health, and gender-based violence. Submitted research must be original work published after January 1, 2024.
3. Eligibility: Citizens or permanent residents of APEC member economies are eligible to apply. An academic background is not required.
