The athletic cheerleaders of Southern Taiwan University of Science and Technology participated in the 2018 National Cheerleading Championship, organized by the Taiwan Athletics Cheerleaders Association. They won fifth place in the "Five-Member Mixed Skills College Group” at the Taipei City University Gymnasium. On the day of the competition, all the participating teams achieved a higher score. The 2018 National Cheerleading Championships had a total of 14 competition groups, with 96 teams from 46 universities units participating in the competition. The competitive cheerleading five-member mixed skill group of the championships was scored on a team’s dance skills, throwing cast, and overall performance. The complete grading project includes the completeness of technical actions, the difficulty of movements, the situation and presentation of skills, the transfer of actions and the display of power. Yu-Han Chen, Manager of the Athletic Cheerleaders at Southern Taiwan University of Science and Technology, said that he was particularly grateful to the school for its support, to the guidance of all the coaches, and to graduated seniors for their guidance in practice.. Athletics Cheerleaders joined the 2016 Annual College Cheerleading Championship sponsored by the ROC Sports Association this year and won second place in the Mixed Group. During the summer vacation Cheerleaders took the initiative to leave for school to work diligently; they also participated in the enrollment of new cheerleaders, team tours, Cheerleading Day Camp, Cross-Department Cheerleading Championships, and many other activities. After all these activities, they still had to join intensive training at night. Their performance in this competition made the judges feel the enthusiasm of students in southern Taiwan. They thus stood out among the many participants had great success. Their arm movements, confident smiles, graceful movements, and creative choreography greatly impressed both the judges and the audience.

The cheerleading team of Southern Taiwan University of Science and Technology has entered the 17th year since its founding in 2001. It is a long-established athletic student society. Despite the hardships during the initial period, it has been growing with all the efforts of senior students in the club and all the talented follow-ups. It is worth mentioning that graduated seniors have never stopped their love for cheerleading activities. Thanks to the positive efforts of coaches and everyone’s passions, STUST Cheerleading Club have been able to win in various competitions. With their thunder-roaring slogans, uniformed arm movements, stable techniques, self-confident smiles, they greatly impressed both the audience and judges. These are the key to their winning of glory for the school glory.
