The Ministry of Education designated May as the “Month for Filial Family,” emphasizing that good parent-child relationship requires positive interaction between parents and children according to the core value of mutual respect and caring. It is expected to arouse people love, affection, awareness of filial piety, and parental compassions. Children's filial piety meets the sympathy and value of modern social life. Its philosophy is divided into two points. The first emphasizes the reciprocity concept of parental and children filial piety. Traditional filial piety attaches importance to individuality and role-play; yet, it requires only the responsibility of children for their parents alone. In contrast, nowadays the focus has been moved upon mutual interest and affections, putting stress on the idea that good parent-child relationship requires positive interactions. Love is better than awe, and affection is higher than the importance of role-play. The relationship is based on parent-child relationship, reciprocal relationship, and parent-child relationship management. The second point is that the performance of filial piety can be diversified: the traditional filial piety is regulated and mandatory, but today children can create their own filial piety, developing their own hearts and meeting their parents' needs. In the modern society, where technological progress and knowledge are changing, children can share their new knowledge, new ideas, and new skills with their parents in daily life and thereby achieve the so-called "cultural feedback," Both are together a good way to practice filial piety.

In his award-winning remarks, Zheng-Yu Lin mentioned that his parents, in order to raise the three children in the family and give us better quality of life, have not been able to accompany us while they read or go out to play. However, Lin and his siblings have never cared about the material interest. They treasure only the meaning of our being together with each other. Therefore, even if their parents are busy, they still get together in the living room, eating and talking and laughing about what happen at school. He also talked about the people and things he meets during the day. He believes that this kind of life is not something one can buy. He was glad that he has learned to love his parents and his siblings ever since his childhood. Only in a loving environment can one grow up and live a happy life at the same time. His parents would teach their three siblings on weekdays. He was not be afraid of trouble in everything, even if he has to deal with a lot of complicated things. His parents told him that one should work hard because he or she has enough capacity for it. His parents also gave him a lot of positive energy to study in the future. He believes that his parents’ education has helped him grew to a man interacting with people in greater harmony.

Director Yang-Zhi Wang of Student Affairs Office, Southern Taiwan University of Science and Technology, said that family interactions are in line with the reciprocity concept "parents should be kind and children should are filial." Lin was much favored and affirmed by the committee members, thanks to his mature sensibility, which is the greatest wealth his family has given him. . This year, 11 students of STUST were eligible for the review, and they were publicly praised by the school on May 18. Director Wang expected that students can use the “cultural feedback” of technology to express their filial piety even if they cannot stay with their parents.
