Southern Taiwan University of Science and Technology won the 16th Yushui Cup silver award with an integration of AI into its design.

The 16th Yushui Cup Competition was held at the headquarters of the Nanhua Lianhua Shentong Group in Taipei City. It entered the 16th this year. The competition was divided into Software Applications Group, Industrial Design Group, and Microfilm Group. Since its start last September, for more than eight months, more than 1,000 teachers and students from more than 100 colleges and universities had participated in it. Under the strict review of judges, the winners of various awards were released.

Prof. Kun Ouyang and Prof. Ya-Lin Chen from the Department of Innovative Product Design and Prof. Wan-Rong Chang from the Internet of Things Laboratory of Electronic Engineering Department, Southern Taiwan University of Science and Technology, jointly instructed students Shi-Zhen Zheng, Rong-Yao Zhuo, Wei Wang, Zhen-Hao Chen, and Yuan-Long Li to work on "Panacea Women's Private Parts Health Care Products.” The product won the silver award in Industrial Design Group. "Panacea Women's Private Parts Health Testing Products" is an AI in-depth learning technology to identify the proportion of vaginal epithelial cells and bacteria, and the results of the test, transmitted to the mobile APP record through Bluetooth wireless transmission technology, can be provided through APP analysis and records. It can prevent women from infections in private parts, help women to clearly understand the status of their private places, and provide relevant medical treatment basis for doctors.

【"Touch & Clean" product is an environmental cleaning system that can help the elderly live with visually impaired to improve the environmental hygiene of the elderly living in visually impaired.】

In addition, Prof. Kun Ouyang and Prof. Wan-Rong Chang from the Electronic IoT Laboratory jointly instructed students Yu-Ling Zeng, Han-Zhen Liu, Wei Zhao, and Ying-Jie Wang to win the Industrial Design Award for their work “Touch & Clean.” "Touch & Clean" is an environmental cleaning system that assists the visually impaired elderly living alone. The system consists of smart glasses, smart sweepers, and deep learning servers. Wisdom glasses identify obstacles and garbage on the ground through AI deep learning technology. Smart sweepers guide the visually impaired elderly living alone to clean up the environment and improve the environmental hygiene of the elderly living in visually impaired.

It is not easy to win the prize in this competition. This competition has successfully combined the design capabilities of the production department with the AI technology research and development capabilities of the electronic department through two-phase cross-field cooperation to create excellent results. In the future, students will be led to more cross-disciplinary learning opportunities. In addition to the improvement of design skills, students will be able to learn from self-growth from cross-disciplinary cooperation.
