The athletic cheerleaders of Southern Taiwan University of Science and Technology participated in the 2019 National Cheerleading (Dance Cheerleading) Championship, organized by the Taiwan Athletics Cheerleaders Association. They won runner-up in the designated action college at the Taipei City University Gymnasium. On the day of the competition, all the participating teams achieved a higher score. The 2019 National Cheerleading Championships has a total of 14 groups of entries. In two days, as many as 139 schools/units and 436 teams nationwide entered the competition. All the members of the Cheerleading Team of Southern Taiwan National University of Science and Technology expressed their special thanks to the university’s support, the coaching staff, and the care of senior students. The contestants started enrolling in September, preparing for community admissions, and contacting multiple performances during holidays. In October, they prepared courses to assist the school to hold a one-day training camp activity for Inter-department Cup cheerleading team. In November, they prepared for community evaluation and dynamic joint exhibition competition. In December, they actively participated in various departments in the inter-department cup cheerleading championship. In the event of many activities running simultaneously, the players also used the spare time to train the competition process of each group, worked hard, and admired the spirit. The most commendable thing is that most of the participants in this competition are new students who joined the club this semester. It is not easy to form a team to train for the award in such a short period of time. It is hoped that through the hard work and experience of this competition, the team can lay the foundation for future success.

Hong-Zhe Shih, President of the Cheerleading Team of Southern Taiwan University of Science and Technology, said that the cheerleading team of Southern Taiwan University of Science and Technology has entered the 18th year since its founding in 2001.
