Department of Multimedia and Entertainment Science, STUST, won three awards in the 16th Kuo-Ting Li Creative Art Competition of Humanities and Technology.

In the Kuo-Ting Li Creative Art Competition of Humanities and Technology, the Department of Multimedia and Computer Entertainment Science, STUST, won the Digital Game Group Silver Award, Digital Game Group Excellent Work Award, and the Kuo-Ting Science Popular Science Special Award of Interactive Technology Art Group. Among them, the silver prize in the digital game category was won by the student game work "Aluta" under the guidance of Professor Yong-Ming Huang from The Department of Multimedia and Computer Entertainment Science, STUST. The Kuo-Ting Li Creative Art Competition of Humanities and Technology is a national large-scale competition in digital content to commemorate Mr. Kuo-Ting Li's contribution to the development of Taiwan. The K.T. Creativity Award (with the meaning of "National Tripod" and "Knowledge Taiwan") hopes to focus on the application of digital technology innovation to visual arts, and invite teachers and students from various universities and colleges to participate in the competition, working together to enhance Taiwan's creativity and innovation activities.

"Aluta" is a pixel-style 2D side-scrolling action game developed by "The Dawn Game." This game emphasizes the player’s attack fluency and sense of strike. Through the continuous attack and driving mechanism, the player can control the enemy’s actions and complete a round of combat. After the work won five awards this year, it continued to win the Silver Award of the K. T. Creativity Award. It can become a popular work in this year's competition.

"Reflection on Sleepwalking," directed by Assistant Professor Pei-Yu Chen from The Department of Multimedia and Computer Entertainment Science, STUST, won an Excellent Work Award in the digital game group. This work is a mobile puzzle game developed by the "Traveling House Production Team." Players can explore by shifting their perspective and focus. In the game, the player plays the role of Oriah lost in the forest, observing the map through various perspectives, and by shifting perspective and focus to avoid hidden dangers, traverse numerous institutions, and find the way home. The innovative core mechanism of "Rethinking on Sleepwalking" that shifts the focus brings players a brand new game experience, and is recognized as a masterpiece by virtue of its excellent game design.

The interdisciplinary team under the guidance of Professor Yong-Ming Huang from The Department of Multimedia and Computer Entertainment Science, STUST, has also won the Kuo-Ting Science Popularization Special Award with the work "AR Animation Machine." The team is composed of students from The Department of Multimedia and Computer Entertainment Science, STUST, and the Institute of Manufacturing Information and Systems, National Cheng Kung University. This work is a teaching plan that originated from the concept of STEAM maker education. Students use the characteristics of the AR system to more intuitively learn the assembly and application of the animation machine, and they can also freely create animation on the animation machine.

Zhi-Cheng Sun, Chairman of the Department of Multimedia and Entertainment Science, STUST, said that both "Aluta" and "Reflection on Sleepwalking" are excellent works among the graduation projects this year. They were also affirmed by the judges in this competition, showing the solid professional education achievements of the Department of Multimedia and Entertainment Science, STUST. The result was surprisingly delightful.

Deng-Maw Lu, President of STUST, said that the professional abilities of students in the major Department of Multimedia and Entertainment Science have always been affirmed. Through the interdisciplinary team formed by the talent development room, students are willing to try to cooperate with talents in different fields to implement technical and vocational education. With the spirit of pragmatism and practical application, he hopes that the student team can produce more wonderful works in the future, so that they can use their knowledge at school and have more choices in the workplace.
