The STUST recently held the 2023 International Conference on Bilingual Education and Innovative Teaching at the Wenbing Concert Hall of the university. This event was funded and guided by the Ministry of Education and the National Science Council. It invited Professor Jinghe Han from the School of Education at the University of Western Sydney in Australia, Professor Ming Yeh Lee from the Graduate School of Education at San Francisco State University in the United States, Professor Tang Yao from the Department of Education at National Cheng Kung University, and Associate Professor Yue-nue Hong from the Department of English at the National Taichung University of Education, together with scholars from various universities and colleges as well as teachers and students from English-related departments. There were about 200 people for a one-day lecture event, paper research presentations, and workshops.

This seminar took "Bilingual Education and Innovative Teaching" as the main concept and distinguished three discussion areas: "Bilingual Teaching and English Education," "SDGs and Innovative Teaching," and "Japanese Language Education and Culture Fields," which were created in line with the idea of making Taiwan a bilingual country in 2030 and the national policy of deeply cultivating innovative teaching in higher education.

In his speech, Vice President De-guang Chou of STUST not only welcomed the distinguished guests, but also encouraged the attending scholars to actively put forward opinions and share valuable experiences on the current issues of bilingual education and innovative teaching, so that talent cultivation can be improved in all aspects. In addition, two scholars were invited to speak at the conference on the development and current situation of bilingual education and innovative teaching. Jinghe Han, a professor at the University of Western Sydney in Australia, talked about her research on cross-language teaching methods to explore the role of teacher-student bilingualism in Chinese education. Ming Yeh Lee, a professor at the State University San Francisco in the United States, shared with the audience her research on innovative education. In addition, the conference also invited Associate Professor Yue Hong from the Department of English at National Taichung University of Education, Professor Yao Tang from National Cheng Kung University and Professor Tamura Seiro of Kyoto Sangyo University, Japan, to give invited lectures. In addition to keynote speeches and invited speeches at the conference, a total of three workshops were held in each group area, covering topics such as CLIL teaching and assessment strategies, SDGs cross-field curriculum design, and cultivating leaders with sustainable development goals through Japanese education. The content of the seminar can be described as diverse and rich, with equal emphasis on theory and practice, and topics covering all levels of education, allowing participants to benefit a lot and leave with a high level of satisfaction.

In addition to the conference's keynote speeches, invited speeches and workshops, this seminar also selected 9 papers that went with the theme of the conference to publish professional research experiences, and 23 poster papers were published.
Finally, at the venue of this academic seminar, many domestic English publishing houses also came to support the conference with their book exhibition activities, providing various latest publications on foreign language teaching, research, and learning for participants to read and reference, bringing a better academic atmosphere to the conference.
