Driven by the twin engines of Nanke and Sharon, Tainan City's industries are booming, causing the young working population to gradually move toward the technology and service industries and indirectly causing the shortage of talents in traditional industries. According to the data from the Statistics Office of the Ministry of Economic Affairs, Tainan City ranks fifth in the number of manufacturing companies in Taiwan, first among the southern counties and cities, and fourth in the number of manufacturing employees in Taiwan. This shows that Tainan City has the highest ranking in the rule of Mayor Wei-zhe Huang and the Bureau of Economic Development. Thanks to the efforts of Director Rong-chuan Lin and his colleagues in the city government, traditional industries have developed and occupied a very important position in Taiwan. With the vigorous development of traditional industries in Tainan City, the industry's demand for talents is relatively greater than that of other counties and cities. However, due to factors such as the attraction of talents to the technology industry and the service industry, there is a relative shortage of talents entering traditional industries. Consequently, there appear gaps between the skills of traditional industries and the inheritance of experience, which has seriously affected the long-term development of the industry. However, if students from colleges and universities within the jurisdiction of Tainan City can stay in Tainan City for employment, it will surely alleviate Tainan City’s shortage of talents in traditional industries.
