To cultivate skilled professionals in information and communication technology, the Department of Electrical Engineering at STUST recently hosted the 2025 Digital Signal Processing Creative Design Competition. This competition, guided by the Ministry of Education, aims to enhance students' practical abilities, professional competitiveness, and international outlook within the technical and vocational education system.

Under the wave of digital technologies such as artificial intelligence, 5G communications and big data, digital signal processing (DSP) technology has become the key to global technological development. In order to cultivate more information and communication talents that meet the needs of the industry, the Department of Electrical Engineering of STUST grandly held the 2025 Digital Signal Processing Creative Design Competition on March 14. This annual event, guided by the Ministry of Education, is not only a creative competition stage for students in the vocational system, but also an important platform for industry-university cooperation and stimulating innovation energy.

Celebrating its 20th anniversary, the competition continued to be a platform for creative innovation and industry-academic collaboration. It featured six major categories: Software and Embedded Platform Applications, Green Energy and Control Applications, Healthcare Applications, TEMI Internet of Things Applications, Microchip Digital Signal Processor Applications, and the International Group. Now in its fourth year, the International Group saw record participation, attracting 24 top teams from seven countries, including Taiwan, the Philippines, Indonesia, India, Australia, Japan, and Vietnam.

The preliminary round drew 198 teams, comprising 840 teachers and students from 24 universities and colleges worldwide. After intense competition, 117 teams with 298 participants advanced to the semi-finals, which were held at the Library and Resources Building of STUST. Finalists not only received substantial cash prizes and certificates but also earned the opportunity to represent Taiwan in international competitions.

The competition in this year's Digital Signal Processing Creative Design Competition was fierce, and the winners in each group performed brilliantly. In the Software and Embedded Platform Application Group, Longhua University of Science and Technology won the first place with its outstanding technology and innovative design. The Green Energy and Control Application Group was won by the host team STUST, showing its home advantage. The first place in the Health Care Application Group was also won by STUST, demonstrating the school's professional strength in this field. The champions of the TEMI Internet of Things Application Group and the Microchip Digital Signal Processor Application Group were won by National Chin-Yi University of Technology, demonstrating its strong strength in the Internet of Things and digital signal processor applications. In the fiercely competitive International Group, the Karpagam Institute of Technology team from India won the favor of the judges with its innovative work and won the first place in the International Group.
For each winning team, the first place team received a prize of NT$40,000, the second place received a prize of NT$20,000, and the third received a prize of NT$10,000. The top three teams were all awarded medals and certificates, and a number of outstanding works wer awarded certificates. In addition, domestic winning teams will have the opportunity to compete in international competitions, and the conference will subsidize two participants (students or teachers) with NT$60,000 in airfare and NT$40,000 in living expenses.
