According to statistics released by the Ministry of Education's Campus Security and Disaster Prevention Reporting Center, both the number of fatalities and injuries resulting from traffic accidents involving college and university students increased during January to April 2026 compared with the same period in 2025.
Analysis of the data indicates that single-vehicle accidents were the most common type of crash. Most accidents occurred during holidays, with the highest number taking place during daytime hours (6:00 a.m.–6:00 p.m.), followed by late-night and early-morning hours (12:00 a.m.–6:00 a.m.).
Students are reminded to remain vigilant when traveling or going on trips with friends. Pay close attention to road and traffic conditions, especially when approaching curves, downhill sections, and intersections. Always reduce speed appropriately and avoid driving or riding while fatigued.
Motorcyclists should wear a certified safety helmet at all times and strictly observe traffic regulations. Never ride without a valid license, stay alert to conditions ahead, respect right-of-way rules, and continuously strengthen hazard perception skills. By developing safe road-use habits and promoting a culture of "Pedestrian Priority" and "Defensive Driving," we can work together to create a safer traffic environment for everyone.
