Southern Taiwan University of Science and Technology recently held the closing ceremony of the 5th Xiamen Institute of Technology 3+1 Segment Docking Cooperation—Automotive Electronics Class. This one-year course included automotive theory, automotive inspection and diagnostic technology, automotive electrical and electronic technology, microcontroller course design, sensing components and transmission control practices, automatic gearbox principles and practices, power and Courses in electronic technology, engineering materials and manufacturing technology, engineering testing and signal processing. It offered a paralleled curriculum between practice and theory, so that students had the opportunity to verify what they had learned and deepen their learning. Such a special class not only enhanced the mutual understanding of students on both sides of the strait; it but also shortened the distance between each other and expand the horizons of both. Eventually the class showed the fruitful results of cross-strait educational exchanges and cooperation.

The cooperation between Southern Taiwan University of Science and Technology and Xiamen University of Technology has seen the fifth year. STUST expressed its gratitude to Xiamen University of Technology for affirming its achievements in teaching. In addition to the formal subject courses and technical skills training during the school year, the 37-member electronic class also invited industry lecturers to teach and conducted off-campus visits and cultural visits. This way of learning allowed Xiamen University of Technology students to have new experiences in professional learning and Taiwanese local culture. The project "Smart Self-propelled Car" was presented in the course of the course. With the work, the class competed with the students of the single-chip internship course of Southern Taiwan University of Science and Technology to make their friendship grow up in competition.

The students have visited places all over Taiwan, including Taichung, Taipei, Sun Moon Lake, the Palace Museum, the Jiuzu Cultural Village, Jiufen Old Street, Fengjia Night Market, Qijin and other popular attractions; they also went to Pingtung Dapeng Bay to watch the international-class racing competition. In addition, the students participated in the 29th "Southern Taiwan Auto Show" of Southern Taiwan University of Science and Technology. It was a rare experience for the students, added a lot of memories to their lives during their stay in Taiwan. The promotion of this project has not only provided a diversified learning style, but has also enabled Xiamen University of Technology students to acquire rich experiences in professional learning and local cultures of Taiwan.

Professor Zhi-Liang Zhu, Chairman of the Department of Mechanic Engineering, Southern Taiwan University of Science and Technology, said that the activities of the Advanced Vehicles Group of the Department of Mechanic Engineering have always been the priority at the South University of Science and Technology. They have excellent teachers, improved vehicle teaching equipment, various vehicle laboratories, a professional maintenance factory, and other teaching facilities, so that students can fully learn the skills of modern vehicle maintenance testing technology, and master the theoretical knowledge necessary for automotive professional technology. With the opening of this special class, students are expected to develop their ability to interact with the industry during their studies and to strengthen their communication skills in the team.
